NEW: May Edition of Insights into Leadership is out now! This month, I’m exploring the power of strengths – how working in alignment with your natural energy can boost your confidence, reduce stress, and lead to more sustainable success. I share my own story (plus a client example) of how strengths-based leadership can be a total game-changer.

Theme of the Month: The Power of Strengths
If you’ve ever had a day at work where everything just clicked, where you felt energised, capable, and genuinely enjoyed what you were doing, then you’ve probably been working in your strengths zone.
This month, we’re exploring how aligning your work with your natural strengths isn’t just a “nice to have”, it’s essential for building sustainable confidence, reducing overwhelm, and unlocking greater success and fulfilment.
In my own career journey, recognising and working with my strengths was a complete game-changer. Instead of pushing harder at things that drained me, I started intentionally choosing work that played to my natural energy, this involved project work (planning andproblem solving are my superpowers), coaching, supporting growth, leading people through change (my other strengths include helping others and simplifying complexity). As a result, not only did my impact grow, but so did my confidence and therefore my motivation, success and happiness.
I’ve seen the same thing happen with many of my coaching clients.
One leader I recently worked with was struggling with confidence, having her voice heard and feeling overwhelmed by the demands of her role. Through using her Insights Discovery profile, we uncovered her preferred behaviours: her talent for building trust, building consensus, creating clarity through process, and leading calmly through influence rather than force.
When she began tapping into these natural preferences and understanding the strengths they bought to her leadership instead of trying to “be” a different kind of leader, everything shifted. Her confidence grew. Her overwhelm reduced. She reconnected with enjoyment in her work. And ultimately, she achieved more, with less stress.
Working with your strengths isn’t just about feeling good, it’s about unlocking performance, resilience, and authentic leadership.
